Curt Leeds, Principal
Curt Leeds was born and raised in Havre, MT. He attended both St. Judes and Havre Public Schools for his primary education. During High School, Curt was involved in football, basketball, track, and student council. In 2003, he graduated from Havre High School and went to college to get a degree for Secondary Education in Mathematics.
In 2007, Mr. Leeds received degrees from Montana Tech and University of Montana-Western. He started his teaching career in Shelby, MT as a high school and junior high school math teacher. During his four years in Shelby, Curt coached football, basketball, and track for the Coyotes.
In 2012, Mr. Leeds was hired to be the Blue Pony boys basketball coach. So, he moved back home and started teaching mathematics at Havre High School. During his time back in Havre, he pursued his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Montana State University. After obtaining his degree, he was hired by Box Elder Public Schools to be their 7-12 principal.
After 3 wonderful years in Box Elder, Mr. Leeds returned home again to be the principal at Havre Middle School. He is now in his second year in the position. Curt is married to Kassie Leeds, who teaches 3rd grade at Lincoln-McKinley school. They have two sons, Layden(5) and Layke(2).
Heather Haney, Assistant Principal
Hello all and welcome to Havre Middle School's home page! My name is Heather Haney, and I’ve spent the last fourteen years teaching high school math at Havre High. Recently, I transitioned into a leadership role as the assistant principal at Havre Middle School after earning a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Montana State University.
I began my academic journey at Montana State University-Northern (MSU-N), where I earned an Associate of Science in Business in 2004. After taking a brief hiatus to raise my children, I returned to MSU-N to complete bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Mathematics Education and Elementary Education in 2010. Over the course of my teaching career, I’ve been honored with the Havre Public Schools Teacher of the Year award in 2017-2018, I have presented at national mathematics conferences, and in 2015, I earned a Master’s in Mathematics Education, also from MSU.
Building strong relationships with students and creating a welcoming, supportive classroom has always been a priority for me. Now, as assistant principal, I look forward to supporting the students, staff, and families of Havre Middle School in new and impactful ways, ensuring that our school continues to foster achievement and growth for everyone.
